I think you would be happier as a woman.” Leroy laughed at first, certain she was joking. But Grandma wasn't joking. She explained that she had discovered a strange transformation process and had become convinced that Leroy would be better off living as a woman. She spoke warmly and confidently, describing all the possibilities: a fresh start, a new identity, and a life in which Leroy could become someone completely different. Against his better judgment, Leroy agreed. The transformation began gradually. At first there was only a strange tingling throughout his body. His features softened, his hair lengthened, and his voice began to change. His clothes seemed to shift with him, eventually becoming the pink top and blue skirt Grandma had prepared. She fussed over every stage, smoothing his hair and reassuring him that everything was going exactly as planned. But halfway through, Leroy looked at himself and suddenly panicked. “No,” he whispered. Grandma stopped. “What's wrong?” “I don't want this anymore!” The realization hit him with overwhelming force. Whatever doubts he had pushed aside before the transformation had suddenly become impossible to ignore. Leroy began crying, desperately asking his grandmother to stop. He tried to pull away from her, but the strange process had left him weak and disoriented. Grandma glanced toward the doorway. “Your father needs to help me.” A moment later, Leroy's father entered the room. He immediately understood what was happening and looked deeply uncomfortable. “Dad, please!” Leroy sobbed. “I changed my mind!” His father hesitated. Grandma insisted that stopping now would leave the transformation incomplete. She told him that Leroy would eventually thank them both and that they couldn't abandon the process halfway through. With painful reluctance, his father held Leroy in place while Grandma continued. Leroy cried throughout the remainder of the procedure, repeatedly begging them to stop. His grandmother kept working until the transformation was finally complete. When it was over, the room became terribly quiet. Grandma looked at the young woman sitting before her and smiled with satisfaction. “There,” she said softly. “It's finished.” But Leroy didn't smile. He stared at his reflection, tears still running down his cheeks. His father released him and immediately stepped back, his expression troubled. Whatever Grandma had imagined this new life would accomplish, one thing was already clear: Leroy hadn't freely chosen it. And the silence that followed made that truth impossible for either of them to ignore. Image made with Vivago AI Image Generator |
